Villa St. Maxime is an intimate, luxury boutique hotel, of international standing. It features comfortable, spacious and compelling common areas. A huge pool, 5,000 square meters of garden and grounds. As well as fully equipped, en-suite guest rooms, with sea or garden views from private balconies or terraces. Two suites, two sea-view guest rooms and two garden-view rooms. A huge terrace for breakfast and cocktails and an interior dining room as well.
Villa St. Maxime was designed by the celebrated architect, Dominic Michaelis, a graduate of Cambridge University, M.Sc. Architecture & Municipal Engineering. Michaelis founded a leading consultancy firm, with noted expertise in solar structures and residences. For which he received the RIBA, RICS and CIBSE awards.
He holds patents in the 'Energy Island' concept developed for the International OTEC Association, and an offshore platform that generates renewable energy.
This singular edifice blends stunning interior and exterior aesthetics with his cumulative expertise in creating world class passive energy efficiency. His innovative design is evident throughout the Villa, from its airflow engineering, ensuring the large open areas are constantly fresh and cool in summer and warm in cooler months. Aggressively harnessing solar abundance in every respect, nearly every feature of the Villa boasts maximum efficiency. For example the opening atrium features a retractable glass roof. Southern facing, the Villa’s many prodigious glass windows and doors are skillfully positioned to maximize luminate-energy assimilation in winter, while coolly shaded in summer. Summer evening sea breezes and morning land breezes further enhance the natural flow of freshness throughout.
The entire structure is constructed of rare limestone block, 50x cm in depth, from Les Baux-de-Provence. To heighten the stone’s beauty and impact, the Carrière Sarragan quarry dispatched their expert stone cutters, fitting each stone with formidable artistry, under the measured direction of the architectural team.
Unseen however, is the Villa’s additional interior buttressing-wall dramatically fortifying structural integrity, as well as ensuring a congenial year-round environment. In this manner, the Villa’s vast spaces enjoy exceptional comfort year round. Central climatization is provided by alternate systems. In this way the most efficient and comfortable mix is selectable year round, although it’s natural passive energy system renders environmental systems superfluous throughout much of the year.
The combination of albinic limestone and sleek Carrara marble flooring throughout ensures a classical beauty sleekly framed in a bright, uncluttered ambience throughout.
